Cuddly Care Program
The purpose of the Cuddly Care Program is to pick up the spirits of patients at Flagler Hospital and local nursing homes and has been around for almost 20 years! Many organizations, businesses and private citizens have generously contributed to this program by collecting hundreds of thousands of stuffed animals that have brought smiles to numerous patients’ faces.
This program is a part of the SJSO Community Affairs Section and is facilitated by Deputy Ricky Domingo.
If you would like to donate, you may drop off clean stuffed animals at the Sheriff’s Office Administration Building, 4015 Lewis Speedway, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office would like to pay special tribute to Deputy Joe Bowen, who was the first Deputy assigned to the Cuddly Care Program. In his tenure, Deputy Joe Bowen handed out over 33,000 cuddly creatures to citizens, taking the time to tell each one a short story or a quick joke. In June of 2015 Deputy “Joe” passed away and we, as well as the entire community, miss his presence greatly.
