Do you accept general applications or resumes?
The only applications accepted by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office are our applications. Resumes may be inserted in an application, but not in place of anything requested on the application forms.
Where do I go to fill out an application?
You may pick up an application from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, which is located at 4015 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32095, Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
When can I turn in my application?
Completed applications are accepted by appointment only. Please call (904) 810-6683 or (904) 810-3651 to make an appointment.
What is the closing date of the positions?
There is no closing date - open until filled.
When will someone contact me for the position?
After the background portion of the application process is complete, the applicant will be notified of the next step.
May I apply for two different open positions?
No, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office will only accept applications for one open position within the agency.
Is this application the same as those used by other county agencies?
No, this application will only apply to the positions that are available under the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. All elected officials such as: Property Appraiser, Tax collector and Clerk of the Courts, and Board of County Commissioners handle their own application process, and you need to contact each office individually.
How do I obtain Florida Law Enforcement/Corrections Certification?
In order to be considered certified in the State of Florida, you must have attended a Law Enforcement academy and passed the State exam. You may contact St. Johns River Community College at (904) 808-7490 for more information.
If I am certified in another state, what must I do to become Florida Certified?
You must contact a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) assessment center at (352) 334-0358, to have your current training and certification assessed.
Do I have to be a resident of St. Johns County to apply?
Within 180 days from the date of hire, employees assigned an agency vehicle may live no more than 10 miles from the St. Johns County line.
Does the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office have a take home car program?
Yes, take home cars are available for most Law Enforcement positions.
Do you have to start in Corrections prior to going on the Road?
No, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is looking for those who want to make Corrections a career. In order to transfer from Corrections to another position, there is a 3-year waiting period.
