SJSO Emergency Preparedness

Unfortunately, there are more things to be prepared for today than at any other time in our history. Not only must we be aware of and prepare ourselves for a terrorist attack, but we must also be ready now for severe storms, especially hurricanes, that are forecast to be on the increase in both frequency and strength for the foreseeable future.

With regards to the hurricanes, we should be ready for not only during the months when they would normally be expected, but at least 2 months before and after. The items that one would normally stockpile should be rotated to keep them fresh. Hurricanes don’t usually sneak up on us, but a tornado can form and be upon us from a severe thunderstorm or weather front, without warning.

As with the tornado, a terrorist attack cannot be predicted as to time and place with any certainty either. An attack can happen at any time - at any location and we should have a family plan in place.

Be sure to visit not only the sites we have links to regarding terrorism but also weather and news related sites to familiarize yourself and your family with what to do and how to prepare for whatever uncertainty may come our way.
