Sheriff David B. Shoar

The Sheriff serves as the chief law enforcement officer, the chief bailiff of the court, and the chief corrections officer of the county. His job is to prepare our deputies for every situation, provide leadership to our staff and others around St. Johns County, and ensure the safety and prosperity of this diverse community. Sheriff Shoar is excited about the future of this community and looks forward to making a difference in St. Johns County each day. Our values are simple—strive for integrity in all we do, treat all our citizens with dignity and respect, and always try to be the best we can be.

Undersheriff Matthew Cline

The Undersheriff is the Sheriff’s principal command staff officer for directing, coordinating, supervising, and training the staff, except in areas reserved for the Sheriff. Undersheriff Cline frees the Sheriff from routine details and passes pertinent information and insight from the staff to the Sheriff and vice versa. He assists the Sheriff in supervising the daily operation of the agency, participates in the planning process for present and future conditions, and assists the divisions in attaining agency goals and mission.
