The St Johns County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center is the primary public safety answering point in the county. The PSAP is the hub of the Sheriff’s Office and all emergency communications for the entire county.
The center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 day a year. Each of our public safety telecommunicators are certified by the State of Florida to answer and process 911 calls coming in. Along with answering emergency 911 lines, our PST’s also answer the non-emergency administrative line and dispatch deputies to calls for service.
Recent upgrades to our communications center consist of implementing text-to-911. To find out more about text-to-911, click here.
We also currently have the ability for citizens to text our administrative line 904-824-8304. Texting our administrative line is not to be used when there is a true emergency. Please remember the following when using text to the administrative line:
- Enables better access for our citizens who are speech or hearing impaired
- Text messaging is a communications service and there is not a 100% guarantee that a text message will be sent, delivered or received in a timely manner, if at all, based on limitations outside of our control. Text messaging may take longer than a phone call.
- Easy to use. Just type in the Sheriff’s Office phone number (824-8304) as the recipient of the text and send the message
- There may be a delay in a text response while public safety telecommunicators are handling e-911 phone calls or other voice phone calls.
Then men and women answering the calls for help from the community are the true first responder and our Heroes in Headsets.
