EXPLORER POST 911 MISSION
Explorer Post 911 is the premier experience and orientation program for young people considering a career in criminal justice. The mission of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program is to provide a platform for youth, ages 14-21, to explore the field of criminal justice through hands on training, practical application, leadership, communication, and participation in community service projects.

- Post 911 accommodates a maximum of 40 Explorers / Cadets yearly

All weekly Monday night meetings take place from 6:30-8:30pm at 911 Law Enforcement Way, St. Augustine, FL 32092

Check your eligibility
To become a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Explorer, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must reside within St. Johns County.
- Must be at least 14 years of age and may stay until their 21st birthday.
- Must be enrolled in a school: public, private, or home school, or have a high school diploma or G.E.D. If a high school diploma or G.E.D is obtained, the candidate must be enrolled in continuing education (police academy, college/university, or trade school).
- Candidates, Cadets and Explorers MUST maintain a “C” (2.0) grade point average.
- Chain of Command (Corporals, Sergeants, Lieutenants, and Captain) MUST maintain a “B” (3.0) grade point average.
- Must have no criminal history.
- Must be willing to participate in community service projects.
- Must have high moral standards and conduct within the community.
- Must complete Post 911 registration application and be willing to pay corresponding dues (See Fees tab for further details).

Registration & Fees
Explorers must pay a one-time annual payment, non-refundable $205.00 membership fee upon acceptance into the Post. There are other Post dues throughout the year to help cover food and entry into theme parks / competitions; however, the Post takes a majority of the costs when applicable.
Registration for 2025-2026 will be open on July 1, 2025.
