Criteria for Entry Into The C.A.R.E. Program

  • Signs of exploitation or abuse
  • Lives alone and has no family in the area to check on them
  • Concerns about the safety of the home

C.A.R.E. does not accept applicants who have dementia, Alzheimer’s, or violent tendencies.

Referrals

The C.A.R.E. Program receives referrals from various entities and individuals including: religious leaders, physicians, families, care givers, neighbors, fire/rescue members, and law enforcement officers. C.A.R.E. can refer program participants to various charitable and non-charitable community or government organizations with the resources necessary to address virtually any need.

Exploitation and Abuse

C.A.R.E. personnel are trained to recognize and report signs of exploitation and/or abuse observed during contacts with C.A.R.E. Program participants. Working hand in hand, C.A.R.E. and law enforcement will work to take appropriate action by providing the assistance and resources to deal with America’s most under reported crimes — Elderly Abuse and Exploitation.

In Home Visitation

C.A.R.E. personnel routinely communicate with and visit program participants who have no local family or who live alone. These visits are intended to maintain a connection with the participant and foster an open dialogue with law enforcement and social services.

Law Enforcement Partnerships

Crime prevention information shared with program participants will help them recognize the various types of crimes and scams targeting the elderly.
