#TeamSJSO is hosting Teen Driver Challenge this summer. The one-day driving course, sponsored by the Florida Sheriffs Association, educates teen drivers about the rules of the road, builds their skills, safety, and confidence with guidance from deputies.
Participants practice backing, turning, figure-8s, evasive maneuvers, serpentine driving, and off-road recovery exercises.

In July 2025, SJSO Property Crimes detectives initiated a financial scam investigation after a victim was contacted by an individual fraudulently posing as a business representative. The individual claimed the victim owed money and their personal information had been used to open bank accounts. The individual also persuaded the victim to withdrawal money in order to keep their funds safe.
Over the course of four months, the victim sent multiple payments and lost more than $149,000. Through investigative efforts and using advanced technology, SJSO detectives tracked several of the transactions and froze the overseas account holder's access. As a result, and with assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Office of Statewide Prosecution, detectives returned $17,376.35 to the victim.
While the amount recovered is only a small portion of the funds lost, recovering fraudulently obtained money is very difficult for law enforcement. Criminals move the money quickly through complicated layers of bank accounts, shell companies, cryptocurrencies, or offshore accounts in different countries, which makes tracing the funds slow and challenging. Investigators often need search warrants, subpoenas, and cooperation from foreign governments, which can take weeks or months. Different law and banking rules across borders also add more hurdles, and proving the funds are criminal proceeds requires strong evidence that can be hard to gather amid advanced money-laundering techniques.
Every case is different, but SJSO detectives continue to learn the tactics criminals use, allowing them to stop scams more quickly, recover stolen property, and stay one step ahead of criminals targeting the St. Johns County community.
The second #TeamSJSO LEVEL UP Summer Teen Academy is complete!
The weeklong, hands-on program gave high school students an inside look at law enforcement, patrol, special operations, and forensics. Participants also toured the SJSO Emergency Communications and Training Center, jail, and courthouse.

Meet SJSOs newest K9 team: K9 Rynne and Deputy Gorey!
K9 Rynne is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, certified with FDLE in Patrol and she came from Spectrum K9.
K9 Rynne is extremely intelligent and understands her daily mission. She loves building and area searches. For only being on patrol for a month, Rynne has already located a domestic violence suspect in the woods and tracked a fleeing burglary suspect.
Deputy Gorey is looking forward to always having back up and growing together as a team. K9 Rynne is his first K9.
#TeamSJSO is excited to see this team work!
#TeamSJSO actively keeps the Courthouse safe on a daily basis. Today, our bailiffs assisted with Veterans Court, an initiative in the Seventh Judicial Circuit designed to address the distinctive needs of veterans in the criminal justice system. Our deputies enjoy seeing the progress made by these Veterans as they continue to make better choices and face their challenges.

Today is Boater Skip Day in Northeast Florida! #TeamSJSO and partnering agencies are out on the St. Johns River helping keep everyone safe.
If you’re heading out on the water today, have all of your boating safety equipment onboard:
-Life jackets for all passengers
-Fire extinguisher
-Sound making device (Whistle or horn)
-Type IV throwable (life ring or boat cushion)
Expect heavier boat and vehicle traffic and designate a sober driver. Be responsible. Stay safe and enjoy the day on the water.
SJSO patrol units responded to a delayed theft of a young lady’s bicycle yesterday. She explained the bike was her primary mode of transportation for the summer and without hesitating, Deputy James, Deputy Myers and Deputy Sharp took initiative in helping this family.
With our great partners at Walmart, to include one of their employees, Isaac, they all chipped in their own money to replace the stolen bike with a brand new one! SJSO PSA’s also assisted in the special delivery.
Great team effort to those involved in making this teenagers day!
SJSO SWAT recently conducted its annual training at Camp Blanding in partnership with the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training Team.
During this training, team members, support personnel, and medics utilized specialized equipment in response to simulated high-risk scenarios involving armed suspects, hostages, and breaching structures.
SWAT team training is essential to ensuring the team's readiness during an emergency response that requires quick decision making to stop threats and protect the community. #TeamSJSO
